SRF started manufacturing fluorochemicals (CFCs and HCFCs) at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, India in technical collaboration with AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) of USA in 1989. With a sharp focus on quality and competitiveness, SRF has over the years backward integrated into manufacture of critical intermediates required for refrigerants. These include hydrofluoric acid and chloroform.
Launch of new generation HFC 134a with SRF's own technology in 2006 ensured growth of business despite phase out of CFCs as per Montreal Protocol stipulations.
SRF's Floron brand of refrigerants enjoys an over 40% share of the Indian market besides being well accepted across the world. The company meets the exacting requirements of OEMs in Air-conditioner, refrigerator and auto-mobile segments.
In 2012, SRF started producing trichloroethylene (raw material for HFC 134a) and perchloroethylene (raw material for HFC 125).
The chloromethanes plant was set up in 1995 in collaboration with Atofina (now Arkema) from the perspective of meeting our requirements for carbon tetra chloride (raw material for CFCs) and chloroform (raw material for HCFC 22). Methylene chloride is co-produced in the same plant. Over the years SRF has positioned itself as a quality producer and preferred supplier to leading API producers besides foam producers in Indian and overseas markets.
With a global distribution network, SRF's Flurochemicals Business is well positioned to service the market requirements for refrigerants and chlorinated solvents.
