An alumnus of IIT Delhi Sushil Kapoor is at the helm of the largest business
segment of the company, the Technical Textiles Business. At IIT Delhi from
where he graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1982, Sushil had the honour of
bagging the Wanson-Thermax Award for his project. Later during his professional
career Sushil also attended Stanford University for a programme on Strategy
& Organisation.
With over 28 years of diversified experience, he assumed many roles spanning
purchase, projects, operations, sales and marketing across Engineering,
Chemicals and Textiles Industries. Beginning his professional career from DCM
as Management Trainee in 1982, he moved to SRF Nippon Denso in 1984 before he
joined SRF in its Chemicals Business in 1993.

At SRF, he has been credited with evolving a successful model of Process based
Organisation during his overseas stint in its Dubai plant way back in the late
90s. The system was later deployed across the organisation. He was the CEO of
SRF's tyre cord business when it won the prestigious Deming Application Prize
in 2004.
His authority on technical matters, hands-on approach to leadership and
inter-personal skills have enabled him to turnaround many of the operational
units in SRF, a feat that has earned him a title of 'turnaround expert'.
He is presently busy charting and implementing the growth strategy of SRF's
Technical Textiles Business. Sushil played a key role in two successful
overseas acquisitions for SRF during 2008, the one in Thailand and the other
one in South Africa in addition to commissioning projects for SRF's maiden
entry into the arena of Polyester Industrial Yarn and Laminated Fabrics.
Sushil has been a member of several professional bodies. At CII, he is the
Chairperson of its Steering Committee on Technical Textiles and has also been
associated with drafting of government policies on technical textiles. Besides,
he is on the Corporate Advisory Board of SRF University.
