Products

Overview

BOPET

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a plastic material produced by biaxial orientation of PET resin which has found increasing applications within the packaging field. Its chemical inertness, excellent physical properties and wide operating window makes it particularly suitable for converting and various other industrial applications.

BOPP

BOPP (Biaxially-oriented Polypropylene) is a plastic material made from stretched polypropylene resin and is used for its barrier properties for converting and various other industrial applications.

SRF offers its products under two brand names PETLAR for the entire range of BOPET films and OPLAR for BOPP films. These two brands are a testimony to SRF's competence and commitment to consistently meet the exacting demands and requirements of global converting industry.

Manufactured with state-of-the-art facilities, SRF’s products conform to global standards of mechanical, optical, thermal, surface & barrier properties.

A diverse range of products including Corona Treated, Chemically (co-polymer/acrylic) coated, metalized, holographic and specialty grade PET films are available under PETLAR ambit. The brand OPLAR includes various grades of BOPP Films e.g: Non-sealable, Sealable, Metallized, Metallizable, Matte finish, Pearlized white etc.

Manufacturing

Overview

SRF’s journey in the packaging films started in 1995 when it acquired the plant at Kashipur in India from M/s Flowmore. The company has since then grown beyond the national boundaries and become one of the leading manufacturers of both BOPET as well as BOPP films globally. Today, the company has four manufacturing plants; two in India and two overseas. While the two Indian units in Indore and Kashipur and one unit at Rayong in Thailand produce BOPET films, the South African plant situated in Durban produce BOPP films.

SRF’s first 3.2 meter wide PET production line from Celier (France) started operations at Kashipur (Uttarakhand) in 1995 and has a 7500 MT capacity for producing both thin and thick PET films in the range of 8 - 190 microns.

In the ensuing period, SRF added 8.5 and 8.7 meter wide lines (from Dornier, Germany) in Special Economic Zone of Indore in Madhya Pradesh in 2004 and 2009, to become the second largest thin PET film manufacturer in India. The SEZ unit at Indore is supported by two state-of-the-art metallizers, soft embossing holographic machine and backward integrated PET Resin plant. In line with this expansion, the business is in the process of setting up a metallizing facility in Kashipur plant.

In May 2013, the company set up a BOPET Film Plant, a green-field investment at Rayong in Thailand. This unit has an 8.7-metre-wide film line supplied by Dornier (Germany) with an annual capacity of 28,500 MT and can produce films with a range as diverse as 8 to 125 microns. It is also supplemented by a 2.8 meter vacuum-metallization plant.

SRF also made a foray in a new substrate, polypropylene, by setting up a BOPP Film Plant in Durban (South Africa) in November 2013. With an annual capacity of 25,500 MT, the plant has the latest 8.7 meter 5-layer co-extrusion technology for efficient BOPP film production from Bruckner Group GmbH (Germany). The line is capable of film production between 10 and 80 microns, suitable for a wide range of applications. It is also supplemented by a 2.8 meter vacuum-metallization plant.
