SRF Foundation, formerly known as the Society for Education and Welfare Development, was set up as the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of SRF Limited in 1982.

It started by setting up The Shri Ram Schools (TSRS) and academically supporting SRF Vidyalaya under the vision of Late Padma Shri Mrs. Manju Bharat Ram. The Foundation builds on the heritage of its founders, Late Sir Shri Ram and Late Dr. Bharat Ram, who were instrumental in the establishment of institutions such as Lady Shri Ram College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, The Shri Ram Research Institute, The Anglo Sanskrit School and many others.

SRF Foundation believes in quality education and training that inspires children and youth from all sections of society to achieve individual aspirations and build a better society for tomorrow, through knowledge, skills, and values. To pursue and achieve this vision, the Foundation is actively involved with the society at the grassroots with an array of programmes for education, skill development, Natural Resource Management (NRM), and preventive health care.

The Foundation is registered under the Societies Registration Act (XXI of 1860).

Transforming government schools into ‘Model Schools’

In line with the legacy of providing high-quality education, SRF Foundation’s interventions include creating centres of excellence for learning by transforming government schools into ‘Model Schools’ by plugging the gaps of government schemes through infrastructure up-gradation, building of safe drinking water facilities, boys and girls toilets, sports facility, library, development of the school level leadership, and promoting science and computer education.

Our flagship institutes and initiatives are The Shri Ram Schools (TSRS), rural educational programmes, Enhancing Early Education Programme (3EP), Techniques of Teaching Science to Middle School (TTS-MS), IBM KidSmart Programme, Support My School (SMS) Programme, and “Udaan,” a residential learning programme for female school dropouts.

Vocational Skills and Livelihood

Through studies and researches it has been found that there are not enough skilled or competent workforce for the industries and that it has been the major challenge faced by India.

To cope up with this concern, the Foundation has established livelihood and skill development centres that imparts demand driven employability and provide competence based training, such as Basic Electrician Training Programme (BETP), Excavator (JCB) and Forklift Operator Training, Spoken English Classes for youth, and Tailoring, Driving and Advance Beautician courses for women.

These centres are central to improve employability and livelihood opportunities, reduce poverty, enhance productivity, and promote environmentally sustainable development. These centres are located at Mewat, Indore, Gwalior, Gummidipoondi, Manali and Viralimalai.

Natural Resource Management

Water, the most prevalent and necessary natural resources on Earth, has become a limiting factor in many regions in India, which is explicitly threatening agriculture and economy.

To reverse or stop the depleting level of water table, SRF Foundation, with the help of its local NGO Partners in Bhiwadi, has started the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Project in Bhiwadi.

This project not only checks the depletion of water table but helps in converting barren land into farmland—promoting the best agricultural practices, fruit and vegetable cultivation— thereby, increasing the livelihood of farmers and contributing to the water and food security of the nation.

Health and Hygiene

Healthy citizens are boon to a nation as they ensure productivity and reduce nation’s expenditure on the health services.

To improve the health of the women at large, SRF Foundation has started a community led Sanitary Napkin production and distribution facility at Mewat. The Foundation facilitates preventive health care for various ailments such as heart & lung diseases, eye check-ups, orthopaedic through hospitals that have partnered with the Foundation.
